While he had initially been linked to Inter, the Chilean could now line up at Camp Nou after being offered to the Liga champions
Arturo Vidal is close to becoming Barcelona's latest arrival in the summer transfer market, with the Blaugrana set to snap up the Bayern Munich star for less than €20 million (£17.8m/$23.2m).
The Catalans have already landed Brazilian pair Arthur, from Gremio, and Malcom, the latter coming despite first agreeing a move to Roma from Bordeaux.
Clement Lenglet has also arrived at Camp Nou from Sevilla, while Barca are also bolstered by Rafinha's return after a loan spell with Inter.
And while Inter had first been linked with an approach for Bayern's Chile midfielder, Barca could once more jump in to hijack the deal.
Goal can confirm that Vidal has been offered to the Blaugrana by his agent, Fernando Felicevich.
While Inter and Milan were also offered his services, Barcelona have shown great interest in the star and have come to a preliminary agreement with Felicevich.
The club and agent are now negotiating the specific conditions over the signing of Vidal, who is keen to leave Bayern after three seasons in Germany.
Prior to his time with the Bundesliga champions, Vidal spent four years with Juventus after a four-year spell with Bayer Leverkusen. He came to Leverkusen originally via a move from Chilean side Colo-Colo.
At 31, the star is considered one of the world's most potent box-to-box midfielders, a position in which Barca lack cover following the exit of Paulinho.

All I want is a World Class Midfielder in Barça (after our legend Andres Iniesta left). In Vidal I see that maintained to a good extent. Arthur has a great potential but he is new in Europe. We need an already proven player in midfield so that Cautinho can play upfront. For 20m, it's a great deal. All the best.

WHAT THE FU#K IS BARCA DOING!!! Where is my Rabiot, this is the main reason we don’t win the CL! No De jong, De Ligt???!!! We target a good quality player, but than things get a little hard and barca gets desperate makes a 180 turn and buy someone out off the blue?!😣😣😣 Someone completely different not even fitting the system!!!!???? WHY KEEP WASTING MONEY??? Is it really that hard to buy some quality??? You have to think about the future, this short term thinking is killing us, it’s better to give the youth a chance they are all leaving the club!

This signing is not in any way meant to replace Iniesta. This is a short-term move primarily for this seasons CL run. Arthur is meant to fill the role of #8 long-term (in his own way). Vidal provides depth & toughness. He would allow Valverde to bring Arthur along slower as he’s young and now playing in a new/better league. A fair price too imo

Five reasons behind the move for Barcelona starlet 1.Paulinho's transfer: reports suggest that coach Ernesto Valverde is unhappy with the departure of Paulinho for only a year to join the club, and Barcelona's Vidal saw him as the ideal replacement for the Brazilian. 2The player's reason is: Another reason is thatthe player will be able to make a good impression by Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic, according to Marca. The Chilean is known to be a star player hard work and will help both stars. 3.high ball: Vidal's other strength is said to be due to Barcelona's interest, with the player being one of the best stars in the field of football and is helping the Barcelona defender. 4.Leadership: There is no doubt that Vidal is a real leader in his capacity as well as his actions on the pitch that he often shows. 5.Experience: Bayern's munich has a good experience as the club can move to Andres Iniesta, who left the club, and could help the club in the future.
