Šeško: Scoring felt great, it confirms I can contribute at any moment

Premier League Matchday 26: Manchester United drew 1-1 away at West Ham United. Benjamin Šeško, who scored United’s goal, spoke to the club’s media after the game.

Looking back at the 1-1 draw, how do you reflect on the match?

It was definitely a tough game. We lacked a bit of intensity in the opening stages. These are the kind of games you have to be mentally prepared for, especially when the opposition drops deep, defends really compactly, and looks to hit us on the counter. That’s something we have to learn from. Everyone was hungry for the win, fighting hard to score and fighting for each other. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get it done today, but at least we take a point with us, which is still important from the result.

You played a key role and scored a brilliant, creative goal. How did that moment feel?

It felt amazing in that moment, because at least I knew I’d helped the team again to secure at least a point. It was also a great experience for me personally, and it confirmed even more that I can step up and contribute for the team at different moments. Of course, none of this would be possible without my teammates, so I’m looking forward to many more moments like this in the future.

The past few weeks have shown real determination and spirit, and that was clear again today. You must feel that atmosphere in the dressing room?

Yes, without a doubt. I’ve said it many times already: we fight for each other. Everything we do is to win games and fight for a Champions League spot, because we truly believe we have what it takes. We have more than enough squad depth and quality. Even though the game didn’t go our way today, we have to look forward now, focus on the next game, and try to win it.
