The Liverpool defender hailed Huddersfield's performance, admitting they made it hard for the Reds, but felt his side did well to take the win
Liverpool defender Andy Robertson says his side’s battling 1-0 win at Huddersfield proves they are good enough to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
Mohamed Salah scored the only goal at the John Smith’s Stadium in a scrappy game of few chances.
Liverpool were far from their fluid best, but held on for the win that maintains their unbeaten start to the season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are second in the Premier League, level on points with leaders Manchester City with seven wins and two draws from their opening nine matches.
Robertson says the character and resilience shown by Liverpool is further evidence that they are ready to push their title rivals all the way.
"We weren't at our best but these are the games you have to win if you want to challenge and we'll play a lot better,” the Scotland international told reporters after the match.
"Yes of course, there's a bit of relief. It was a tough game against a very good side.
"It's important you come to these places and you win the game.
"Luckily we managed to get our noses in front and we've seen it out from there. We can play a lot better, but they made it hard."
Robertson was also full of praise for Huddersfield, who put in a brave battling display despite ultimately suffering their sixth defeat of the season.
The Terriers remain second bottom and without a league win this campaign, but Robertson feels they will soon start picking up points if they continue to perform like they did on Saturday.
“We weren't surprised by Huddersfield at all. We did our analysis and in our meetings, the analysis team and our manager were saying they were a better team than the points suggest and I think they proved that.
"They played very well and they're probably a wee bit unfortunate to be where they are in the table.
"I think they will have a positive season. They just need to get up and running and hopefully they will do that, but for us it was about getting the three points.”

A LB who can’t take corners, can’t take penalties, can’t head a ball, can’t take free kicks, can’t play a through ball, can’t dictate anything in football is the greatest? You like all Liverpool stupid fans are dreamers. This Liverpool side do not have the template of any titles winning teams in the league. Go get a proper international LB ffs before you talk about titles.
Are you kidding me ....? Go and see how much assist he had provided and his changes he had created...please read and speak sound language here ok

But it's weird. Liverpool is a finalist in both the CL and EL in the last 5 years. They should be pot 2 under normal circumstances
What ever pot makes no difference. They will not win anything without Buvac “the brain” . Last season Liverpool lost CL because “the brain” left Klopp high and dry at the last moment.

In a match, winning is the key word and that is what we got. Yes, we didn't play our best, but Huddersfield didn't make the game easy for us.

Liverpool have been brilliant since the start of the season. They would have to keep up with this impressive run because other teams are also aiming for glory.🏆 Best of luck, liverpool.

There are always going to be anomalies whichever ranking system you chose. For example putting the champions of big leagues in pot 1 has more recency bias, but was Leicester and Monaco worth the pot 1 spot in 2016?

Or rather blame yourself for not having a gander at the coefficient points over the last 5 years.

It's just a mathematical system, not their fault we went from not being in it to being in the final. We don't like being in Pot 3 either
