BRUNO FERNANDES fluffed his lines from the spot as Manchester United’s winless start continued.
The Red Devils captain blazed over the bar after ref Chris Kavanagh bumped into him as he prepared to take his penalty.
Fernandes rapped Kavanagh for failing to apologise but insisted the incident was not the reason for his miss.
And to pile more misery on United, Fulham grabbed a late equaliser through Emile Smith Rowe to cancel out Rodrigo Muniz’s 58th- minute own goal.
Fernandes said: “Every penalty you have your own routines, you have things you do.
“It upset me because the referee didn’t apologise and that was what triggered me in the moment. But that was not the excuse to miss.
“I just had a bad hit. I put my foot too under the ball and that’s why it ended up going over the bar.
“We cannot be satisfied with one point. It is very disappointing to not win.”
Old Trafford boss Ruben Amorim now has a Prem win percentage of 24.1 with just SEVEN victories in his 29 games since November — and a paltry 28 points.
United’s one point from two games leaves them 16th in the table following the opening-day defeat to Arsenal last Sunday.
Amorim said: “We have to grow up a lot as a team. We scored the goal and hen we forgot about how we play, everyone on the pitch was thinking, ‘Let’s hold on to the advantage and try to win the game’.
“We were not smart at that moment. Fernandes has so much responsibility with him that I felt the lack of joy [when he missed].
“Now we have to move forward no matter what happens.”
Fernandes’ penalty was awarded after a lengthy VAR review which deemed that Calvin Bassey had wrestled Mason Mount to the ground.
But Fulham defender Bassey claims it was “justice” that Fernandes skied his effort.
He said: “I didn’t think it was a penalty. I can understand why it was given but it was harsh.
“I’m trying to stay strong because I know the block’s coming and then I’ve pulled him over my foot.
“But the ref has got to protect us as well. I am strong, so it looks a bit more aggressive.
“If it was someone stronger [than Mount], I don’t think it looks as bad. There is a fine line between giving a foul away and getting away with it.
“We just have to try to be clever. The miss was justice!”
There was also controversy with United’s opener.
Leny Yoro appeared to push Bassey before his header went in off Muniz.
WHEN THE BASS DROPS
Bassey insisted: “It’s a foul. He pushed me to stop me getting to the ball.
“When the ref looks back on it, he will be disappointed. I can’t say too much before I get a fine.
“But come on, it’s a foul. When you’ve got to jump, any little touch can put you off.
“He’s got two hands on my back. How much worse do you need?”
Fulham boss Marco Silva agreed and said: “I would like to explain everything about the VAR decisions but can’t.
“I saw what everyone in the stadium, everyone around the world saw.
“Two players were isolated at a corner and one player pushed the other to head the ball.
“I would like those decisions to always be the same. Simple as that.”

You should have kept quiet and stop complaining when the ref hit you. Pick the ball up quietly focus and place it again. But instead you were there talking for the longest time and focus of your choice to lost the ball to the sky.

Poor excuse. I am so sick and tired of excuses excuses from this team. Because of you people I cannot even talk football anymore. Get ride of all of them. We sign new players who are at the top of their games at the old clubs and then come to ManU and look like shit. This is beyond sadness.

A CALL FOR CHANGE: AN OPEN LETTER TO RUBEN AMORIM, MANCHESTER UNITED COACH Dear Ruben Amorim, Forget the fact that you came to Manchester United mid-season and flopped by finishing 15th last season. Yes, we understood and supported you because you have your vision and the kind of players that can seamlessly fit in. The reason we said let the fresh season start is so that you can recruit your players. Now, the management has bought you enough attacking talents in Man United. The midfield is a serious concern, as everyone knows. The attacking line is one of the best three in the EPL if a good coach is in place. The match yesterday, Fulham 1-1 Man United, was largely due to your poor selection. My questions: 1. Does it make sense to bench Sesko, a brilliant striker for a second time, after such a huge investment, and start a makeshift striker like Mount instead? 2. Why can't Amad substitute Mbeumo instead of playing him as right wing-back? Or could Amad play first and get substituted by Mbeumo? 3. Why do you always like Bruno to play 90 minutes when it's obvious he's underperforming? Does being a captain mean you must play 90 minutes? 4. Does it mean Mainoo can't substitute captain Bruno? 5. What's stopping you from adding another talent that can complement Bruno, considering he's now 30 and can't play like he did in the last 3 to 5 years, especially given the physical demands of the EPL? 6. What is so special about Dalot that you like featuring him when most of his plays have flopped? Or is it because he's a fellow Portuguese? 7. Why do you believe only the 3-4-3 formation can work for you? Is it a sin to try another formation like 4-3-3, which is likely to fit the kind of players we have? 8. Do you even realize that playing Bruno as Central Midfield (CM) rather than Attacking Midfield (AM) is wasting his talent? 9. Do you think two midfielders can create chances for you in the English Premier League (EPL)? 10. Why do you always have starting XI selection problems? Up to now, you don't have a complete first team. This raises signs of an incompetent manager. 11. If you know Bruno is unfit for your style of play, and Saudi Arabia clubs are offering around £90m to £100m, why not disconnect those emotional ties and Portuguese solidarity and cash out to enable us to add additional midfielders? Moreover, your pattern requires more physical attacking players, and Bruno lacks it, unless you've changed your style of play. Finally, I'm pleading with the Man United management to get Amorim a good holding midfielder and a goalkeeper before the transfer window closes. After which, if by December 2025, there's no drastic improvement (meaning Man United is not in the top six), he should be axed out of the club, and another coach should come and try. We know transition is a gradual process, but you can't be in a club for almost a year and remain stagnant... THANK YOU 🙏

Stop moaning about it and grow up you're a captain of one of the biggest club in the world and start taking responsibility... Amorim should utilize him well we don't need 3, 10s in same squad. Also need to change his tactics coz the current tactics of his isn't working.
