The offside flag had been raised as Saeid Ezatolahi netted an equaliser for Iran against Spain on Wednesday night and yet the subsequent VAR review took almost two minutes to complete.
While Iran's players rushed to celebrate, La Roja surrounded the referee and demanded a replay be analysed by the officials back in Moscow.
The matter was referred, like all goals are, and it took 1 minute 47 seconds to reach the conclusion that Ezatolahi was indeed offside, just as the assistant had indicated at the time.

VAR will cause problems. FIFA can divide Robot referees not Both of Electronics and Humans. for matches VAR is used for some others no. what can happen if all the teams claim to review their matches ??? what is the time set for reviews!?? I find this technique modern but disturbing as FIFA has not take all measures around VAR

VAR is meant to aid quick decision making and not to rob the actual game time. FIFA needs to revisit its rule of engagement.[Golden Ball]

If the centre referee has to choose VAR over the decision if his linesmen, then, why the need for Assistant Referees on the field? Anyway, the corroboration of decisions would always bring about an acceptable decision. Well done, VAR and good job to the assistant referee, too.
