There’s an interesting mix of the usual suspects and some unexpected names when you take a look through the players with the most goals and assists in Europe’s top five leagues – Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 – in 2023-24 so far.
Stars from Inter, Liverpool, PSG, Bayern Munich and Manchester City make the top 10 list for goal contributions, alongside one or two names you might not expect to see. We’ve taken a closer look at full list for goal contributions across the major European leagues this season.
Note: if two players are tied on goal contributions, we’ve ordered them by their ratio of goals and assists per minute.
Currently away at the Asian Cup, Son has looked back to his best after last term’s underwhelming return.
The South Korea international has thrived in the absence of old striker partner Harry Kane. He appears galvanised by the captain’s armband and looks like a natural fit spearheading the new front-foot style demanded by Ange Postecoglou.
Boniface could well be 2023-24’s breakthrough star. The focal point of Xabi Alonso’s wonderfully watchable Bayer Leverkusen side, Bayern Munich and Harry Kane have serious competition in the Bundesliga this year.
The German winger is probably playing the best football of his career right now. Under Thomas Tuchel, Sane has alternated between the left and right-hand side and he’s been absolutely ruthless.
“When he plays with freedom and desire, he makes the difference,” Tuchel told DAZN. “He can also lead the way. Physically he is a machine, he can dominate the league.”
Since leaving Manchester City, Sane hasn’t managed to hit double figures for goals in any of his three previous seasons with Bayern. That’s about to change – while he’s setting up plenty for his team-mates.
The Norwegian came out on top of this chart last season by some distance – thanks way more to his goalscoring than his assisting – and he’s certainly in the running to do so again in 2023-24.
Haaland is inevitable. He’s scored in all but five of his Premier League appearances this season and is averaging a goal contribution every 72 minutes.
The 23-year-old has been sidelined for the past few weeks but is expected back soon. It won’t be long before he’s tearing apart Premier League defences again.
It’s really refreshing to see a name that few would have heard of at the start of the season challenging Europe’s elite.
It remains to be seen if Guirassy can keep up this consistency, but we’re loving seeing the 27-year-old Guinean suddenly hit the form of his life for relative minnows Stuttgart.
Guirassy has averaged a goal or assist every 58.6 minutes in 2023-24 so far.
Following his emphatic six-minute hattrick against Sevilla at the weekend, Dovbyk storms into the top 10. The Girona forward has been in the form of his life of late with 15 goal contributions in his last 13 matches.
Throughout the season so far, Dovbyk has averaged a goal or assist every 65.5 minutes which is a remarkable return.
Inter have arguably been the best side across Europe’s major leagues this season – they boast the best defensive record and the fourth-best goalscoring return.
Their Argentinian World Cup winner up top has been one of the pillars of their excellent 2023-24 campaign to date.
The Serie A giants failed to get old strike partner Romelu Lukaku back on loan, but recent evidence suggests that Martinez alone is more than enough firepower. He’s scored or assisted in the vast majority of his appearances this season and is averaging a goal or assist every 75.9 minutes in the Italian top flight.
Liverpool reportedly turned down a world-record bid from Saudi Pro League champions Al-Ittihad for their Egyptian King, and he’s repaying their faith in droves.
Slowly but surely, Liverpool are looking like challengers once again. They’ve only lost one league game all season and Salah has once again been their talisman.
Mbappe is now undoubtedly PSG’s main man following the departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
The 24-year-old is PSG’s all-time top goalscorer and he looks sharper than ever right now. As things stand, Mbappe is averaging a goal contribution in Ligue 1 every 64.5 minutes and is on track to have one of his best seasons yet.
The England captain is loving life in the Bundesliga right now. Kane is on track to break all sorts of goalscoring records at Bayern. Yet another Golden Boot is surely in the pipeline.

Kane is actually allergic to trophies. See Bayern Munich, lost German super cup, out of DFB Copa, 7 points adfrift the league table. Bayern Munich may not win a trophy this season. Nearly 300 games without a trophy. Sure, he's has trophy allergy
