On December 28, it's the Day of the Innocents in Spain, and you have to realise that, after a few seconds doubt, that what you are reading below isn't impossible enough to be true.
Here are ten news stories from 2018 that if they had been read a year ago nobody would have believed them... but they really happened.
1. The Copa Libertadores final between River-Boca is played in Madrid
The most anticipated game in history in Argentina was decided at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu. After the game was postponed because of the rain, and then the unfortunate incidents at the Estadio Monumental, Conmebol were forced to take drastic action: the game was played in Madrid.
2. Spain changed coach two days before the start of the World Cup
Rubiales dismissed Lopetegui the day after Real Madrid made public that Julen would take the reins after the World Cup. It was two days before Spain's debut match against Portugal, and Hierro took over the post of coach with disastrous results. Against Russia, Spain were eliminated.
3. A player announces if he wil sign for Barcelona or not... in a documentary
'The decision' of Antoine Griezmann, a documentary produced by Gerard Pique, served to keep the public in suspense and to know if the Frenchman would stay at Atletico or if he was going to pack his bags and head for the Camp Nou. In the end, although there were two recorded endings, Antoine stayed with the rojiblancos and renewed his contract for a large sum.
4. A Primera player ends up in jail for kidnapping
Ruben Semedo, then at Villarreal, was arrested in February for tying, hitting and holding an individual in his house. He spent 142 days in preventive detention and Huesca gave him a second chance.
5. The most anticipated fight of the year ends in the stands
At UFC 229, Khabib vs. McGregor didn't finish in the octagon. The Russian subdued the Irishman and jumped the fence to continue fighting in the stands, against Conor's entourage. There was no delivery of the belt and both were punished. The most anticipated combat of the year ended in the most unexpected way.
6. Gerard Pique will organise the next Davis Cup
The Barcelona player, with his group Kosmos, achieved a tremendous victory in the General Assembly of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), with 71.43 percent of the votes to give the green light to the new Davis Cup format proposed. The tournament will be held in Madrid.
7. The world champion, Germany, eliminated in group stage
Die Mannschaft finished last in Group F, after losing to Mexico on the first day, beating Sweden in the second and then losing after a historic debacle against South Korea in the decisive match. It was the first time in history that Germany was eliminated in the group stage of a World Cup.
8. A woman receives the first female Ballon d'Or, and is asked to 'twerk'
This, unfortunately, is something that many expected to happen. Ada Hegerberg received the award as best player in the world in 2018 at the France Football gala, and DJ Martin Solveig couldn't think of anything else to ask her other than if she knew how to 'twerk.'
9. Messi finishes fifth in the Ballon d'Or
After a decade dominating the world of football with Cristiano Ronaldo, this year Leo Messi has been far from winning individual trophies. Fifth in the Ballon d'Or voting, something that hasn't happened since 2006.
10. Iniesta and Torres face each other in a match in Japan - and it's not a benefit game
The end of the season saw two significant moves from players at Barcelona and Atletico. Iniesta and Torres left the club of their lives to start a new adventure in Japan, and on August 22 they met again, wearing the shirts of Vissel Kobe and Sagan Tosu.
