According to The Sun, Manchester United insiders believe that 14-year-old forward Gabriel could break the club’s record as the youngest-ever first-team debutant. He won’t turn 15 until October, yet his performances have already become a hot topic at Old Trafford and beyond.

The current record is held by goalkeeper David Gaskell, who made his debut at 16 years and 19 days old in 1956. However, Gabriel is considered such a special talent that it’s believed he may debut even earlier—potentially in a cup match next season.

Despite United’s efforts to keep his progress low-key, Gabriel has already stood out in U18 matches. In a 13-1 win over Leeds U18, he scored twice in just 25 minutes, and also netted in a 4-0 victory over Stoke U18. He has also represented England U15 and recently signed a long-term sponsorship deal with Nike.

Ironically, Gabriel was discovered by top scout Dave Harrison—who has recently been let go by the club.

Manager Rúben Amorim is reportedly open to giving youth a chance. He’s already handed opportunities to 17-year-old Omari Forson, 18-year-old Ayden Heaven, and Harry Amass. Omari debuted in a 0-1 loss to Tottenham in February and has since played in both the Premier League and FA Cup. Amass, meanwhile, has featured in five of United’s last nine league games and twice in the Europa League, helping them reach the final.

If Gabriel appears in the Premier League next season, he could break the league’s all-time youngest debutant record, currently held by Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri, who debuted at 15 years and 181 days in September 2022.
