16-year-old Yamal has passed his high school exams while at Euro 2024 with Spain.

In a unique situation, Spain wonderkid Lamine Yamal has discovered the results to his school exams while gearing up for his side's last-16 clash at Euro 2024.

Yamal has been one of the stars of the tournament in Germany thus far, having impressed with his performances during Spain's unbeaten group stage run.

Earlier this month, Yamal was spotted doing his homework and attending online classes as he geared up for his fourth year examinations.

Now, according to Cadena Cope, Yamal recently learned that he's passed the exams for his fourth year of ESO - which refers to the third stage of the Spanish education system, with this compulsory for students between the ages of 12 and 16.

The outlet claim that immediately after discovering the results, Yamal phoned up his mother to relay the good news.

A statement from the outlet confirmed: 'The young Barcelona player has managed to pass his ESO.'

Yamal had previously joked that he'd hoped to receive his grades online, with the likelihood being that Spain would progress far in the tournament.

'I guess they'll have to send me my grades online because it all depends on how far we go in the Euro Cup, which I hope is all the way to the final.

'If we make it to the final, I won't be able to attend classes anymore. I hope my teachers come along with the team, are happy, and give me a passing grade,' he joked.

At the start of the tournament, Yamal revealed that he had taken his homework with him despite being a key feature of the Spain squad.

'I brought my homework here because I'm in the 4th year of ESO,' he said. 'I have online classes too and those are going fine. I hope the teacher doesnโ€™t get mad at me.'

Yamal became the youngest player ever to feature at the European Championships after starting in Spain's opener against Croatia.

The teenager broke onto the scene with Barcelona last season, making his debut at the age of 15.

The winger has quickly developed into a key player for the Catalan giants and earned a first call-up to the national team in September 2023, before he scored on his debut against Georgia - becoming the youngest player to ever feature and score for La Roja.

And at 16 years and 338, Yamal has broken yet another record as he's become the youngest player in history to play the Euros having been named in Spain's XI against Croatia.

The record was previously held by Poland and Brighton midfielder Kacper Kozlowski, who featured against Spain at Euro 2020 aged 17 years 246 days.
