The final round of the 2. Bundesliga has concluded. Hamburg lost 2-3 away to Fürth, while Köln thrashed Kaiserslautern 4-0 at home to snatch the league title.

After being relegated from the Bundesliga last season, Köln immediately bounce back as champions. Hamburg secured promotion in the penultimate round after beating Ulm. They return to the Bundesliga for the first time since being relegated in the 2017/18 season, ending a seven-year stint in the second tier. Meanwhile, fellow relegated side Darmstadt finish 12th and will remain in 2. Bundesliga.

In the promotion/relegation playoff, 3rd-placed Elversberg will face Bundesliga’s 16th-placed Heidenheim in a two-legged tie.

At the bottom, newly promoted Ulm and Regensburg are relegated, while Braunschweig will play in the 2. Bundesliga relegation playoff against Saarbrücken, the lower-league side that stunned Bayern, Frankfurt, and Gladbach in the German Cup.
