In the group stage of the FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Dembele scored a hat-trick in the match between France and Norway. This was the third hat-trick of this FIFA World Cup, following hat-tricks by Messi and Davies.

Since the four hat-tricks at the 1986 Mexico FIFA World Cup, no FIFA World Cup has seen more than two hat-tricks in a single tournament until now.
