Former Manchester United striker Robin van Perise has called the man-management skills of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into question following yet another defeat.
United slumped to 12th in the Premier League table on Sunday evening after losing 1-0 to Newcastle United at St. James' Park thanks to a late goal from debutant Matty Longstaff.
The result means United have now lost more league games than they've won this season and adds to a month which has also seen a laboured win over Astana, a defeat to West Ham, a narrow penalty victory against League One's Rochdale and a goalless draw at AZ Alkmaar.
Pressure is starting to mount on Solskjaer, who apologised to the fans for the result, and claimed that his players 'needed to sort their heads out.'
However, the comment didn't sit right with former United striker Van Persie who believes it shows the Norwegian is struggling in the Old Trafford hot seat.
"You can see he's struggling there, if I'm really honest, during that interview," the Dutchman told Optus Sport.
"And I get it if you're manager of Manchester United during this period of time. So he's searching for words, maybe he chose a few wrong ones there.
"Because as a player, what does that mean, 'sorting the players' heads out', what does that mean?
"If you're a player you're a little bit like, 'my head is fine'.
"Even though you can see the players are low in confidence, he needs to find a way to reconnect again and to get their confidence high.
"As a manager, when your team is low in confidence, get them up. When your team is too high in confidence, when they are becoming a little bit too much, you have to get them back to the middle again.
"At the moment, based on this interview, and based on what I've seen in the game, I'm not sure if he really knows how to find the buttons there."

big up all man utd fans, our problems are far from realistic, ex utd players like Neville, Paul and other they are good at criticizing non English players like Fred, Pogba and leave facts that rashford isnt fit to play for utd as a main striker, mate isnt the one we used to know back in times, and really we play poorly with no style, young cant contribute anything to us but ole still continue to service him yet is talking about rebuilding the squad hence it's time we sack ole bring experienced and technical manager, thks guys for enduring our club though it doesn't perform to our expectations

Ole needs to start getting it his players for mistakes.he said the team made so many mistakes during the game against new castle.look at Pep and Klopp.they get mad at the players.he needs to stop being the mr nice guy.the players need a wake up call.they are horrible.no urgency in their play, they never fight for the ball back.they let any team just play all over them

Sacking ole is not a solution to Man U it's like cutting part of your body where is pain. The solution is to prescribe the right medicine ie looking for the right striker with enough experience who will help the children come up. If this is not done, relegation is our end point.

Man Utd was supposed to extend Ole's contract of care taker coach not to appoint him as a permanent coach because when he was a caretaker coach he was winning most of the games without conceding much,,,,,he was supposed to be a Caretaker Coach even for 5 years

Ole has no tactics or even experience as a coach. Man utd should consider making him an assistant coach if they so love him, and employ the services of a coach with experience and tactics.Morinho would have packed the bus and salvaged a point from yesterday's game. I love utd but they are making me hate football at the moment. pls change Olé.

they sold all Senior players without any replacement, and using one striker that is old fashioned of play. one he can't beat 4 defenders, using Rashford only, he can't .

It's funny how OGS thought the best way to rebuild a team was to let all the adults with experience go and start from fresh with this kids. I said it before that they could not be consistent for the long run😁

Struggling Is A Understatement. He Is Dying Off Not Slowly But In A Fast Forward Mode. He Is Killing The Club. That's The Outcome Of Becoming The Puppet Of Woodclown And The Glazers.

May be Ole will have to borrow his legs to Rashford and lingard to score goals so that people will be convinced Ole is doing his job , and yet ignorant of the fact that Utd as a club has internal problems , ranging from the board , players attitude and their level of commitment to duties , and the coaching crew , all has their own share of blame , not just crucifying Ole alone , many other teams passed through the same rough roads , Liverpool endured for so long , and now they are flying high with Klopp , so let's exercise a little patience, worst scenario we won't qualify for any European football next season , but we will be fine .
