After two horrible mistakes cost the Reds dearly in a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid, their German goalkeeper has accepted that he must shoulder the blame
Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius apologised to "the whole club" after making two terrible mistakes in their Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
Madrid collected a third consecutive Champions League crown after substitute Gareth Bale struck twice from the bench in Saturday's 3-1 triumph.
But Karius' errors had a huge impact on the result, the German goalkeeper bizarrely throwing the ball in off striker Karim Benzema for the opening goal in Kiev.
After Bale's brilliant bicycle-kick restored the Madrid lead following Sadio Mane's leveller, Karius then allowed a long-range drive from the Wales international to escape his grasp, wrapping up the title for Zinedine Zidane's men.
Karius was left in tears at the full-time whistle and he accepted responsibility for Liverpool's defeat in Ukraine.
"I don't feel anything right now. Today I lost my team the game," Karius said to talkSPORT.
"I feel sorry for everyone. I'm sorry for everyone, for the team, for the whole club. The mistakes cost us dearly.
"If I could go back in time I would. I just feel sorry for my team. I know I let them down today.
"It is very hard right now, but that is the life of a goalkeeper. You have got get your head up again.
"For now, I'm just really sorry for everyone that those goals cost us the title basically."

Given the fact what Liverpool has accomplished, so much can be forgiven. Let’s be fair to soccer, Real Madrid were the more experienced team last night and they stood strong and steadily against our attacks. Our Reds did put up a great fight and shown great mental strength to rebound after the first goal and even when Mo Salah was exit out after the shoulder injury. Like what Klopp said in his pre-conference, we need a little bit of luck but that didn’t materialised and it wasn’t to be their shine for most of our players. Truth be told, we know where we need to re-enforce our strength for summer and we hope the manager does see the light. All in all, Liverpool has done us proud in the run to try and bring back a first silverware but its was not to be. We hope this will lift the lads to be even stronger and wiser in experience for another challenge to come. YNWA [LFC1][LFC2][LFC3][LFC4] [Russia][Uruguay][Iceland] [Panama][Peru][Switzerland] [Italy]

At least he is man enough to admit his wrongs but i think he proved klopp right in continuing to find a solid #1 goal keeper bc karius is a solid #2 at best & he has proven it👀

Everyone sometime made mistakes at the very important moments. Tonight is a very very bad night for Karius that he won't forget for his whole life. Be strong and pick yourself up and you gonna be good again.
