Jose Mourinho confessed he “shouldn’t have” taunted Juventus fans after Manchester United’s victory. “I was insulted for 90 minutes.”
The former Inter boss had already traded gestures and chants with the crowd at Old Trafford, but at the final whistle in Turin he sparked controversy when holding his hand to his ear and winking at the Juve fans.
Mourinho has justified his decision to taunt the Juventus support following a fine 2-1 comeback victory for the Red Devils in Turin.
Unbeaten in all competitions so far in 2018-19, Juve looked set for yet another win when Cristiano Ronaldo sent them ahead in the second half against struggling United.
But Mourinho's men had other ideas, drawing level through Juan Mata before Alex Sandro's last-minute own goal gave them a priceless win.
“I was insulted for 90 minutes. I came here to do my job, nothing more,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“I didn’t offend anyone at the end, I just made a gesture that I wanted to hear them louder. I probably shouldn’t have done it, and with a cool head I wouldn’t have done it, but with my family insulted, including my Inter family, I reacted like this.
“We played a fantastic game, to our top level, as we cannot be any better than this. We came here to play like a team that was against a side with different potential on every level.
“We managed to win because we played a very, very positive match and we looked for the victory to the very end. We looked for it.
“Fellaini changes the game, most often at home. We didn’t have him in the first leg, Juventus introduced Barzagli to control us, but we immediately went direct and got the goals.
“We introduced Juan Mata not for the free kicks, but to put the crosses in for Fellaini, who always dominates in the air.
“A point or three would’ve changed little for Juventus, but three points makes a big difference to us. I suppose a draw would’ve been the right result.”

Don’t judge the man, it was an emotional reaction. If anyone gets battered by press and pundits as much as Mourinho does, you’ll be doing all sorts of cart wheels... He shouldn’t regret, he should be happy of his and his players achievement tonight. He earned the right to do that. Mans been battered for too long...

Haters are not talking about juve fans for an uncalled for behaviour here but prefer to criticize José. They insulted him and his family; that's lack of fair- play. But José had a gesture only, that wasn't not to insult back but to hear them insult again as they kept quiet at the end of the game. imagine how they would insult again if they won. Uefa should ban such fan as FIFA teaches about respect that they didn't have

Mind you.... Many have been talking about the last show at Stamford Bridge which led to a tunnel gang between Mou and Chelsea assistant.... The case is a bit different here... The juventus fans trolled Jose for 90 mins... That was bad.. Chanting an abuse on his family, records and Inter Milan records and family too.... He didn't say a word... Only if you understand Italo, many of you can't take this and you will over react than that... Jose walk up on the field and put his hand right behind his ear .. What that means is continue chanting, i have won at your soil.. He didn't even say a word.. He wanted them 59 continue chanting.

Mourinho has all the right to do that. He has been criticized a lot and targeted by the media. I think this fits as a reaction to the media rather than the fans.

British media have a tendency of overlaying stories. Mou has gone through a tough time with Soccer pundits who base their understanding of football on their past playing days. Former club played ganging up to see the back of a Manager I consider the best in the World. Mou has proved his tactics are the best at: Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan , Real Madrid and now Man U. Not even Fergie did that.

Jose is an extra emotional guy. Every where that he has been. So, to the gestures he has done all along, this is no surprise. Besides, he needs a way of celebrating in front of those taunting fans: instead of doing Kloop's stunts, he chooses fingers and short gestures that even anger supporters more. He deserves to be happy, it's truly been a bad start and to win Juventus with the current balloon D'or winner, it's a big deal for him. Besides, Valencia is on his neck n he will have a game visiting Spain. he needed the win.

yes the home fans deserved it for singing against JM at Old Trafford. It was just a reaction for that. He probably wanted to hear from them because they were quiet after the loss. People will criticise but Jose you gotta do what you gotta do.

i wonder if Chelsea fans will ever reason with their brain other than their hands. Did Jose celebrate in front of Juv fans? No he did not. watch that match again you will see that Jose moved away from Juv fans and went inside the pitch. How is it then the same thing with Chelsea assistant coach leaving his area to celebrate in another team area? What Jose did today he also did it against Chelsea. Juv fans was taunting him, and he put his hand in his ear which mean you all should taunt more, In Chelsea when a taunt from Chelsea fans came, he raised his 3 fingers which mean i won three EPL for you guy and you will never forget me Jose Mourinho. learn to say the truth and keep your hatred aside
