The drama was reminiscent of last season’s Champions League quarter-final when a stoppage-time goal from Raheem Sterling was ruled out
Pep Guardiola lamented that VAR needs to be fixed after he watched his Manchester City team have a last-minute winner against Tottenham ruled out on Saturday.
"I thought we left that situation in Tottenham in the Champions League last season,” Guardiola told Sky Sports after the game. “But it is the same. The referee and VAR disallow it. It's the second time [it's happened] - it's tough. It's honestly tough but it's the way it is.
"It happened last week with Wolves and we saw for Chelsea on Wednesday - the keeper wasn't on his line - Adrian in the penalty shoot-out. They have to fix it. The whistle inside matches now isn't quite clear. But they believe it's hands with Llorente in the Champions League and sometimes they don't.
"It was incredible it wasn't a penalty in the first half [for the foul on Rodri in the box] but VAR said it wasn't and then at the end they did. I'm pretty sure people were happy today we just need to work harder at scoring our chances.”
City twice led at the Etihad Stadium against Spurs before being pegged back, with goals from Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura cancelling out strikes from Sterling and Sergio Aguero.
“The way we played was incredible - I am so proud,” said Guardiola. “The amount of shots we had was great and we only let them have two.
“People say we can improve but the result is all that counts in the end. We would like to win because the guys deserved it but sometimes football is like this.
“They crossed the halfway line maybe four or five times in 90 minutes so we defended well. [Goals from] corners happen when you have good takers and good headers but of course we will work on [defending them].”

had VAR been in use last season.. spurs could have beaten City last season sec lag, after Walker handled the ball with his arm which penalty was not awarded... also against Swansea city in Caurbao cup city scored a two offside goals.. which Pepe later admit that they should have not won the game if VAR were in use.. but my problem is that most times the VAR seems not to be working.. like Pepe said.. Liverpool vs Chelsea.. Adriane moved out of the goal line before Abraham kick the ball, which is not supposed..and they allowed it to stood as a goal.. The VAR is going to affect each and everyone but they should try to be making the right call at the right moment..

it doesn't matter how much they try to stop us from winning the 3rd title in a row , but we will prevail at the end and prove everyone wrong. go city

City will still win the title but theyll score a lot less goals than last year that's a fact. Them and Liverpool along with Arsenal will suffer the most at the hands of VAR. Aubameyang lives offside a lot so Arsenal fans will have to get used to many calls. Same goes for Sterling and Jesus when caught which will be more frequent. And for Liverpool Mane and Salah will be caught a lot....

It’s VAR , the handball was cleared. U could see the ball got stuck for a while. Why is Pep complaining? The review shows its all

This VAR thing is a joke and take the excitement out of football. During the world cup, the referee was the one who will review the video to help him make a decision, that's fine. But in the premier league, it is some guys in a room somewhere which no refereeing experience who would make the ultimate decision, instead of the referee, what is this?!! There are so many circumstantial variables in football that need considered decisions, it is not a game designed for machines and robots. The way VAR is implemented will ultimately kill off the game, its effect on players, referees and fans will be such a put off, I just hate bureaucrats who try to control sports by introducing stupid ideas.

I dnt see the faults in VAR, i only see dramatic coach confronting his player in front of camera.

City played very well last night... but they need to be more clinical in front of goal... so many missed chances last night... talking abt VAR is stupid since it’s part of the game now and everyone should get used to it... the sooner the better... and if City plays like the way they did last night and be more clinical I am sure they can go all the way... I believe all the teams this season will get a hard time with VAR... but I believe the camera angle that VAR get to see also plays a huge role... like last night’s incident I believe if we had a view from the front than the behind video... it’s very likely the ball had touched the hand of Eriksen too...if so would the decision would have been different...
