The former Real Madrid and Barcelona manager says Modric doesn't do enough to have won the Ballon d'Or and Real Madrid should be looking to De Bruyne.
Luka Modric was named as the best player in the world last year becoming the first person not named Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Ballon d'Or since 2007. His win did not convince everyone though. Former Real Madrid manager, Radomir Antic, is one of the people can't understand the victory as he explained to Goal.com.
“It seems absurd to me that none of the three greats of Spanish football have ever considered signing the best passer in the world, which is none other than Kevin De Bruyne. Since when is [Luka] Modric the best passer in the world?"
What does Modric do?
“I can't even say what it means to see him win the Ballon d'Or as the best player in the world, it doesn't make any sense. He doesn't give assists or score goals. You need players like De Bruyne, not like [Eden] Hazard – players that make others play.
Modric could be on the move in the summer. He has been linked with a move to Inter Milan and his contract expires in 2020. Real Madrid are planning a squad overhaul and the Croatian's performances have come in for some criticism this season after an exceptional World Cup that saw him drag his country to the final before being beaten by France.

France Football are clear that the Ballon dOr is awarded based on three main criteria: individual and collective performances (prizes) during the year; 'player class' (talent and fair play); and the player's career as a whole. Apply Occams Razor to the 30 candidates, and the solution is simple: Luka Modric is the worthy winner. In 2018, Modric won the Champions League with Real Madrid for the fourth time in his career. He was the best player for Croatia as he captained them to the World Cup final for the first time ever. He won UEFA's Midfielder of the Season, the World Cup Golden Ball and The Best FIFA Men's Player awards. As collective and individual accolades go, it's difficult to do any better. His talent is indisputable. He is the beating heart of Madrid and Croatia, a leader in both dressing rooms, a player of such breadth of quality that its extraordinary to think he was once told he was too small and slight to be a professional. At the World Cup, he attempted the most passes (484), had the most touches (624) and most recoveries (56) of any midfielder. As for fair play, he was booked six times in 56 appearances for club and country this year, and never sent off. In fact, he only has one red card in his whole senior career.

the answer is clear and simple, FIFA, don't want many Barca fans to commit suicide seeing cr7 winning his 6th award. cr7 deserved the award last season, but due to the hatred against him, he was denied his right of winning the award.

Varane also won 4 CL trophy and a world cup. He deserves it more. Griezmann also deserves more than Modric.
