Marcus Rashford has given a brutally honest assessment of Manchester United's performance in the wake of their defeat to rivals Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola's men comfortably saw off the Red Devils on Wednesday night as Bernardo Silva and Leroy Sane both scored second-half goals in a 2-0 win at Old Trafford.
The derby defeat comes days after United's humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Everton on Sunday and the performance from the United players has not been anywhere near good enough, according to Rashford.
After the game the England international admitted City were the better team on the night but is determined to see United get back to their best.
'It was quite clear tonight who the better team was,' he told Sky Sports. 'Tonight we didn't play like Man United and that's been the last couple of weeks to be honest.
'That's not right. Bare minimum it should be to work hard for the badge, for the supporters and just for the club, but important to do it for yourself as well.
'It's been a tough road to get where we were, we were never expected to be in this position.
'To not be putting in the performances we were it's disappointing for the players and the last couple of weeks we know what's been going wrong and it's just a matter of putting it back how it was.'
The defeat also saw United's hopes of securing a top-four spot take a hit as they fell further behind the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea who occupy the final two Champions League places.

How many times are these players going to comment after each game....it used to be managers only and that was all that is needed as they sit and endure 90 mins and are best observers. How can a player like Rashford say we didnt play united way when on the pitch. It was city that took the game to them and out classed in every department and were on another level. Maybe united should stick to the basics as they are a ordinary team sitting 6th on the ladder.

'Tonight we didn't play like Man United and that's been the last couple of weeks to be honest.....To me that's not an excuse, what about a match against Everton 🤔?? Am a fan of Chelsea and loved be sincere as far as Football is concerned. Anyway Chelsea please buckle up cuz top four race💪 isn't over yet until it's over including the European Cup⚽

Already looking at europa league next season. Man utd would be a disgrace even if we play in ucl. I think we should reset the wage structure. When the season endz, the contract negotiation shall begin and complete before the preseason. There will no longer be astronomical wages, those refusing to sign a contract should be swiftly transfer listed. As well as those that harbor thoughts for ucl or personal glory. We need to rebuild but must do so with the right personnel. 1st a football director, (van der sar my choice), Woodward has shown he is incompetent in football matters. Then the players. Clean out deadwoods and lower the wages commitment, promote from academy. Get in good players to compensate our deficient notably fullbacks, dm and a senior striker. Let's stabilise the club 1st. I am sick of disjointed performance with no passion.

Man Utd!!! those days are kinda gone when we can say our players give their 100% for the club. This days there is no passion to win from the players. pogba, lingard, martial, Mata, matic among several others are not close to the United caliber of players who are ready to give their all 100% every single game bcos there are no competition for shirts. Even if we go to the market and get players if there there are no competition for shirts, it going round circles again. Our scouts have more tidious work to do bcos they are the ones dat shld provide infos on hungry players with quality who want to win at all cost. #man_utd_coach.
