FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi has been named the LaLiga Santander Player of the Month for March. Los Azulgranas finished the month on top of the pile, with the Argentine producing his regular scintillating displays and leading by example, which made him a worthy winner of the award.

After starting the month with a win over Real Madrid, Messi went on to score six goals in the team's other three league fixtures in March. The Catalan giants beat Rayo Vallecano 3-1 at home, with the Argentine grabbing a goal and an assist, which they followed up with a 4-1 win away to Real Betis in which Messi bagged a hat-trick and produced a mesmerising performance. The final outing of the month was a 2-0 home win over RCD Espanyol, with the forward registering a brace.

Messi will collect the award in front of the Camp Nou faithful, before Barcelona's match against Atletico Madrid on Saturday at 20:45 CET.
