According to A Bola, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) distributed prize money from the last World Cup earlier this week, but only partially, with neither players nor staff receiving the full amount owed.
Portugal's staff members received only one-third of their due bonuses, and players also received less than expected. Under the previous FPF management led by Fernando Gomes, prize money was typically distributed within two months of a tournament's conclusion. Portugal was eliminated in the Round of 16 at the last World Cup on December 6 following a 0-1 loss to Spain.
This marks the first time in Portugal's history that the national team has begun a new tournament before the prize money from the previous one has been fully settled. Despite this unprecedented situation, the FPF views the matter calmly.
