A car ran over multiple people during the Liverpool parade, causing panic and emergency response. Medical teams rushed to the scene to assist the injured while authorities investigate the shocking incident that disrupted the celebration.
The Reds were crowned champions at the end of April but had to wait until the final game of the season to physically get their hands on the trophy.
On Monday, they held their trophy parade and set off just after 2pm, with the likes of van Dijk and Salah leading the way on top of the bus.
Thousands flocked in from across the country however the festivities were marred after a car was seen to have driven through bystanders just after 6pm.
Videos online showed police attending the incident. It is not yet known if anyone was injured.
A police statement shortly after read: 'We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.
'We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in a collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.
'The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained. Emergency services are currently on the scene. We will issue more updates as we have them'.
David Kitchen of the North West Ambulance Service is up next and says everyone is "horrified and saddened" by what has happened.
He says clinicians, paramedics and other medical teams were quick to support and respond to what happened on Water Street.
He says 27 patients were taken to various hospitals across Liverpool.
"Sadly four of the injured were children," he says adding that one paramedic on bike was also struck but not seriously injured.
'Never seen as many ambulances in such close proximity before'
Sky News' Charlotte Leeming in Liverpool:
"We're outside the town hall and there must be a dozen or more ambulances on standby.
"In the last few minutes, search and rescue have turned up and gone down the street, forming teamwork with the police and ambulances. The priority now for the emergency services is to make sure everyone is okay but also to cordon this area off to work out what has happened.
"The city centre is packed full of people who were celebrating and then this incident occurred. The police have now got this job of controlling the crowds and making sure the people involved in this incident are well looked after.
"I don't think I've ever seen as many ambulances in such close proximity before.
"It's awful seeing people with their heads in their hands and crying, the people who saw what happened. The investigation is in full swing.
"It's a very fast-moving situation and very distressing for everyone when an hour or two ago everyone was celebrating."
