According to Moroccan outlet Le360 reports, 18 Senegalese fans and one Algerian national faced the Rabat prosecutor over vandalism, hooliganism and attacks on police during the match.

After the referee awarded a penalty for a Senegalese foul on Brahim Diaz in added time during the final, several Lions of Teranga supporters attacked stewards and other security personnel to express their dissatisfaction, throwing various projectiles at them.

These unspeakable acts were broadcast on social media and television channels and lasted for several minutes.

At that moment, the Senegalese players were ordered to return to the locker room by their coach Pape Thiaw, while Sadio Mané tried to convince them to return to the field to continue the final.

Fifteen minutes of uncertainty were marked by acts of violence and other pitch invasions.

Unanimously condemned by the press and various federations, these actions also caused FIFA president Gianni Infantino to fly off the handle.

“It is unacceptable to leave the field in this manner, and violence cannot be tolerated in our sport; it is simply unacceptable (…) The deplorable scenes we witnessed today must be condemned and must never happen again.”
