It is very difficult to strike a ball more beautifully than this: Abel Hernández scored quite possibly one of the greatest goals ever seen on matchday 12 of the Apertura tournament for his team Peñarol in Uruguay. The goal had a bit of everything: execution, aesthetics, acrobatics... the list could go on! What's more, the goal came in the most dramatic of circumstances, with the striker confirming his team's victory in the 97th minute after the score was tied up until that point.
Following a cross from the left flank, the Uruguayan rose highest in the penalty area to fire an exquisite bicycle kick into the top corner of the net. A beautifully crafted goal that came in the last minute of the match and made it 1-2 in Penarol's favor. Will he win the Puskás Award?
