Josep Maria Bartomeu and Eric Abidal had a meeting on Wednesday evening to discuss the fallout from Lionel Messi's criticism of an interview given by Abidal and it has been decided that the Frenchman will stay in his job.
Bartomeu, who spoke to Messi before meeting Abidal, didn't want to sack the technical secretary and has decided that he'll continue.
Barcelona have a tough Copa del Rey match away at Athletic Club on Thursday and both Bartomeu and Abidal will travel with the team to Bilbao.
For now, Bartomeu has steadied the ship, but the lasting effects of Messi's anger at Abidal won't be known for several weeks.

Basically Abidal should not cristize the players, because the club is facing a serious problems of striking and defensive. If they feel these Gaps and the players are not doing well than. But, since Suirez left out for injury nothing the Boards of directors did to solve the issue. Messi words were stupid, Barcelona play collectively as a team. It would be wrong if The Sporting director suddenly starts single out players and criticizing them individually, players would want be upset and cause problem in the dressing room. The team is allowed to be criticized and should be done so Collectively. Messi words seems as if he’s only defending himself and a few close friends, not the whole team, why would he want them to criticize individual players especially as the Captain.. Messi is the one wrong here but Barca fans will never admit it
