Egyptian football icon Mohamed Aboutrika has raised concerns about the evolving quality of the Premier League, pointing to the departure of key figures as a growing threat to its global appeal and competitive edge.
Speaking on recent developments, Aboutrika highlighted the exit of Jürgen Klopp from Liverpool FC as a significant turning point. Klopp’s influence, both tactically and emotionally, had been central to Liverpool’s resurgence and to the intensity that has defined the league in recent years. According to Aboutrika, his absence has already left a noticeable gap.
The former Al Ahly star also pointed to the impact of Kevin De Bruyne moving on from Manchester City, describing the Belgian as one of the league’s defining midfielders whose creativity elevated the standard of play. Yet, it was the potential departure of Mohamed Salah that Aboutrika believes could prove most damaging.
“Salah’s departure will have an even bigger impact,” he noted, underlining the forward’s consistency, star power, and influence at Liverpool and beyond.
As the Premier League navigates a period of transition, Aboutrika’s remarks reflect a broader concern: that the exit of its most iconic figures could reshape not just club fortunes, but the identity of the league itself.

I understand your feelings for your compatriot Salah, however, just know that nobody is eternal, before Salah and De Bruyne, the EPL had other great players -Best, Rush, Dalglish, Law, Charlton, Cantonna, Gerald, Ronaldo, Lampard, Henry, Rooney, etc, they retired and the league didn't lost it flame.

These comments are baseless at best. why didn't the league collapse when C. Ronaldo left ?. The League is bigger than any single player or coach and Salah is not so influential to cause such decline..
