Eredivisie hopefuls Ajax have capped off their preseason with a 2-2 draw against AS Monaco, but were left hoping when Brian Brobbey went down with an injury.
Ajax boss John Heitinga did not have all his players available to him, with Josip Sutalo, Kian Fitz-Jim, Jorrel Hato, and Oscar Gloukh available.
Kenneth Taylor opened the scoring after 29 minutes in a sunny Amsterdam, finishing off a fine combination with Davy Klaassen and Wout Weghorst in front of an open goal. Mika Biereth answered in similar fashion for Monaco, who equalised just five minutes after Taylor's opener.
A rather disappointing Ajax side fell behind twenty minutes after the break. Mika Godts couldn't get past Jordan Teze, after which the former PSV full-back passed the ball to Takumi Minamino, who tapped the ball in for Monaco's first lead of the afternoon.
Things went from bad to worse when Brian Brobbey, who replaced Wout Weghorst after 63 minutes, sat down after walking gingerly due to an apparent ankle injury. A short cameo saw Brobbey get subbed off soon after, with Oliver Edvardsen coming on and putting Bertrand Traore in the striker position.

A sold-out Johan Cruyff ArenA still got to see Ajax grab a symbolic point when the Burkinese winger slotted a ball home from a low cross from Owen Wijndal.
Further chances for Traore did not find the net, and Ajax finished their preseason with a 2-2 draw against AS Monaco.
Ajax open their Eredivisie season on Sunday, August 10th, with a home game against promoted side Telstar. AS Monaco play one more friendly, next Friday against Inter, before opening their Ligue 1 campaign on Saturday, August 16th, against Le Havre.
