Al-Nassr 1-0 Al-Ettifaq: Coman sends leaders eight points clear

Al-Nassr moved eight points clear at the Saudi Pro League summit after Kingsley Coman's first-half strike guided them to a 1-0 win over Al-Ettifaq, who ended with 10 men.

Al-Hilal could slice that deficit to five points with their game in hand, though another convincing performance at Al-Awwal Park edged Jorge Jesus' side closer to their first league title since the 2018-19 campaign.

Sadio Mane saw an early chance cleared off the line, before Al-Nassr broke the deadlock just past the half-hour mark when Coman swept home on the rebound after Marek Rodak denied Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo rattled the woodwork soon after, before Georginio Wijnaldum and Moussa Dembele were both denied by Bento's fine double save when Al-Ettifaq looked to respond seven minutes into the second half.

Talisman Ronaldo's frustration continued as he saw another effort cleared off the line, while Joao Felix and Mane wasted further opportunities for the home team.

A profligate showing from the hosts never looked like being punished, however, as Al-Ettifaq offered little in the way of a fightback, also being reduced to 10 men in stoppage time as Jack Hendry saw red for an elbow on Joao Felix.

Data Debrief: Al-Nassr near 1,000-goal mark

Coman's tap-in opener was so simple that it accounted for 0.98 expected goals (xG) of Al-Nassr's massive 2.27 tally in the first half alone, which was far ahead of Al-Ettifaq's 1 across the entire match.

But there was no such joy for Ronaldo, who attempted a game-leading seven shots without finding the net, with those efforts worth 0.65 xG of Al-Nassr's 3.14 across the 90 minutes.

Regardless of Ronaldo's struggles, Al-Nassr moved just two strikes away from becoming the second team to score 1,000+ goals in Pro League history, after Al‑Hilal (1,125), who they will hope to pip to the title.
