On April 4th, in the 27th round of the Saudi Pro League, Al Nassr defeated Najma 5-2. In the match, Ronaldo was substituted off after scoring twice.

A scene in the match showed Al Nassr's coach Jorge Jesus walking to the sideline to communicate with Ronaldo, making a "substitution" gesture with his hand. Ronaldo did not object and was subsequently substituted.

At the post-match press conference, Jorge Jesus said when mentioning this incident: "Cristiano did not play in the previous two games, so we preferred to rest him, especially when we were two goals ahead, which gave us the opportunity to better manage his physical condition."

He added: "If the score was a draw, he would undoubtedly have played until the end of the game, but the situation at the time allowed him to rest. He is very professional and not a selfish player. He could have stayed on the field to try to score a hat-trick, but he prioritised the team’s interests and agreed to come off to get some rest."
