Al-Shabab FC 2-4 Al Nassr: Felix hat-trick & Ronaldo goal claim 3pts for visitors

Joao Felix's hat-trick helped Al-Nassr take another step towards the Saudi Pro League title with a 4-2 win over Al-Shabab.

Match Report

Cristiano Ronaldo was also on target, though Al-Nassr had to hold off a fightback from Al-Shabab to move five points clear of Al-Hilal at the top of the table.

It took just three minutes for Al-Nassr to break the deadlock, with Al-Shabab making a mess of clearing Sadio Mane's left-sided cross, and Joao Felix emphatically volleyed into the top-left corner.

And just seven minutes later, he had his second. He rose high at the far post to nod Abdulrahman Ghareeb's cross in from a tight angle.

But Abdullah Al Khaibari gifted Al-Shabab a way back into the tie; he tripped over the ball, and despite his best attempts to pull back Yannick Carrasco, the Belgian burst into the box and slotted past Bento in the 30th minute.

Carrasco then hit the crossbar with a glancing header just before the break, while Ali Al Azaizeh rolled a low shot against the foot of the right post after the break.

Ronaldo restored Al-Nassr's two-goal cushion 75 minutes in, turning a first-time effort into the back of the net, but Al-Shabab soon fought back. Ali Al Bulayhi was unmarked as he poked in Hammam Al Hammami's cushioned header five minutes later.

But Marcelo Grohe was penalised in the 94th minute for catching Abdullah Al Hamddan while trying to punch the ball clear, and Joao Felix confidently converted the spot-kick to complete his hat-trick.

Data Debrief: Ronaldo completes the set

Joao Felix will rightly take the plaudits after taking home the match ball, but Ronaldo carried on his fine form against Al-Shabab.

He has now scored against all 17 teams he has faced in the Saudi Pro League this season, becoming the first player to score against every opponent in a single campaign.

No player has scored more league goals in this fixture than Ronaldo (seven), while in all competitions, he has netted eight goals and provided one assist in nine appearances.
