Former AC Milan and Italy midfielder Demetrio Albertini has called for calm after the Azzurri\'s World Cup qualifying failure.
Italy miss their third consecutive World Cup after losing Tuesday's playoff in Bosnia on penalties.
Albertini told Sky Italia: "We need to look at the broader picture; it's pointless to stop at the penalty or the dismissal. We've been telling ourselves this for too many years: there are many positive things, but we talk about the negative ones more often.
"It's still too early to make assessments and make decisions. If we want to find the truth, we also need to be open to things that are annoying. We need to be open to things that are annoying. We need a thorough analysis."
He also stated: "We need a rebirth, not just a simple 'reorganisation.' I've received many messages from Spain expressing great disappointment over what happened.
"I believe it's also a social issue: children won't be able to experience the World Cup as protagonists; we must objectively think about contributing to this rebirth."
