Carles Alena is known for keeping a low profile, but the 21-year-old has revealed his displeasure at giving up the No.21 shirt to Frenkie de Jong at Barcelona.
It had seemed that Alena had made a nice gesture by allowing De Jong to wear the No.21, but it now appears as though it had already been decided upon by the club.
"It didn't sit well with me that the board promised De Jong the No.21 without telling me," Alena said at Barcelona's training base in Kobe, Japan.
Although Alena has no issue with De Jong over the issue, it is clear that he is not happy with the way in which Barcelona handled things.
"The thing about giving De Jong the shirt was something between him and I," he added.
"I would have liked a message from the board. They promised him the shirt without telling me.
"I knew it was wrong, it didn't sit well with me. I've always been good to the club."
Ahead of next season, De Jong will wear the No.21 shirt and Alena will don the No.19.

It's OK Alena. Shirt doesn't depend upon performances. Donnarumma wears 99 shirt. KDB wars 17 nothing big issue with it. Its upto your performances

I really admire de jong and I know he will be a good signing for us but you guys really think he should be breaking into the first team? You must be kidding. The reason why Busquets is getting a lot of criticism is because he hardly gives the ball away and when he does it is a real problem. You guys seem to forget so easily how good he is. Check the stats last season Busquets had 93% pass accuracy. You guys haven't even thought of Arthur who for me is better than de jong. He had 94%accuracy which is the best both in LA liga and ucl. Rakitic who is now considered as an outcast had92% and yet all these criticisms from barca fans[Crylaugh][Crylaugh]
