Feyenoord midfielder Ramiz Zerrouki has rejoined FC Twente on loan, the two sides confirmed on Wednesday.
The Algerian international played 108 games for FC Twente between 2019 and 2023. Since Zerrouki left Enschede for Rotterdam, the midfielder appeared in 65 games in two seasons for Feyenoord, but played just 54 minutes per game on average.
Zerrouki now rejoins FC Twente on a one-year loan deal, but did not expect to be return to Enschede so soon after leaving.
"I left here two years ago, so you don't expect to be back now. Sometimes things just happen that way," Zerrouki said on the club website.
"FC Twente was specifically looking for a player like me. Of course, I discussed this with Jan Streuer and the coach, but it didn't take long. We know what we can expect from each other. From the very first moment, I had a good, familiar feeling. That's why I chose this option."
The 27-year-old joined FC Twente's academy in 2016 from Ajax and is happy to be back in Enschede. "I'm going to play the home games at the Grolsch Veste again, who would have thought? In any case, I'm really looking forward to it."
FC Twente open their Eredivisie season next week, on Sunday, August 10th, with an away game at PEC Zwolle.
