Alisson slammed by Redknapp and Carragher for his terrible decision

Jamie Redknapp and Jamie Carragher have questioned Alisson's decision making after his huge error gave Leicester a route back into their match against Liverpool.

The Brazilian goalkeeper had not conceded a goal since his £67million move to Merseyside in the summer, keeping clean sheets in all three of his Premier League games.

But, while facing pressure from Kelechi Iheanacho on Saturday, he decided to attempt a Cruyff turn in the box and ended up being tackled by the Nigerian striker. Leicester then scored through Rachid Ghezzal.

It echoed a moment from the week prior, when Alisson chipped the ball past a Brighton player and then spoke about his willingness to take risks.

But Redknapp was not impressed by his attempted skill in the game at the King Power Stadium.

The Sportsmail columnist said: 'It's the worst Cruyff turn I think I've ever seen. That from Virgil van Dijk, he's given him a bad ball back but he had an opportunity to boot the ball up the line.

'Instead he tries to do a trick that is just not on to do. There's a reason why he wears a yellow jersey, because he's a goalkeeper and that's why he plays in goal because he's not good with his feet.'

'Just clear it, get it away and ask questions later. That is not good enough and it's been coming.

'I want the keeper to play from the back because it's an important part of the game but not tricks. All you're doing that is getting the crowd going and giving Leicester something to go on. It's not good enough.'

Carragher was equally dismissive, adding on commentary: 'All he had to do was clear it.

'Last week at Anfield there were a few cheers when he came out and chipped the ball over the attacking player.

'That wasn't good last week and it is even worse today.

'He should have been told after last week. He got away with it then but you don't want your goalkeeper doing that.'
