Chelsea are desperate to beat Liverpool to the signing of Roma's Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson.
The Anfield club made a £62million bid on Tuesday as they look to replace their error-prone No.1 Loris Karius.
But Chelsea are prepared to pay £70m for the Brazil international and will send a team to Rome to negotiate with the Serie A club.
Should they beat Liverpool to Alisson's signature, it will spell the end for Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge.
He has a year left on his contract and is wanted by Real Madrid.
Chelsea will demand £50m for the Belgian keeper who won the Golden Glove award for the best keeper at the World Cup.
Alisson's valuation by Roma is more likely to be met by Chelsea.
Roma are determined to drive a hard bargain for their stopper after they feel Liverpool shortchanged them over Mohamed Salah last summer.
They want in excess of £66m for his signature.
Liverpool’s offer is believed to consist of £53m up front with another £9m in add-ons for the 25-year-old.
Roma have yet to say if they will accept Liverpool’s offer and talks between the clubs are ongoing.
Liverpool are confident of securing agreement and solving the biggest headache Klopp has in his team.
Klopp defended Karius in the wake of his calamitous display in Kiev, claiming he was suffering from concussion.
But Karius has started pre-season poorly and Klopp has decided he must act.
The offer is a sign of Liverpool’s ambition and the offer will smash the record for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
But the deal is far from done with Chelsea ready to pull the trigger on their approach.

since Courtois doesn't care about us. we can offer him to other clubs apart from the one he wants and get something reasonable. He should not be allowed to enjoy making fun of us while we look helpless.
The problem in Europe is that clubs don’t have money like we do in England,the TV money of cause, no club can afford to pay what would ask for in normal circumstances and we were stupid in believing Courtois would change his mind. Have you noticed that the mainland European clubs would not pay the English clubs the similar prices they charge us. We are money making league for their overpriced average players. Because almost all clubs are owned by foreigners and coached by foreigners,that makes it very easy to manipulate our own system and beliefs that our own home grown players are far inferior to those found abroad. Yes they could be but our standards have gone down further by not giving our own youngsters a chance to play for our first teams. Mainland clubs are very clever and they set down among themselves to discuss that there have prices for players sold among themselves and a different price if that player was wanted by an English club. Players like CR7 and the Messis etc will never come this side because they will be treated the same as any other player but would be untouchables in Europe where diving in the in-thing and where they would at least play 6-8 hard games a year unlike here where every game is a final. That coalition of buying cheap from us and selling high prices to us is why no other club wants him so if you don’t sell cheap under these circumstances then you risk having the player walk away free you getting nothing from him yet that little is what we paid for him those gone years. My opinion mate.

The problem here mate is that if Chelsea refused the keeper to go now for them to get something from his sale even how small then they risk having the player walk away for free like what Sanchez did to Arsenal last season. Chelsea are in the disadvantage in this case as they have no choice but to try to get something even though that is the price for Blackman,their loaned out keeper. Chelsea should have force sold the keeper last season but RM knew the position we were in and whet was heading to that is why they laid this ambush.
