Allegri's history with Napoli dates back to the 1997/98 season, one of the most difficult seasons in the club's recent history. The midfielder from Livorno was part of the squad that was eventually relegated to Serie B, and that season the team experienced an extremely turbulent year. That year, Napoli changed coaches 4 times, from Bortolo Mutti to Vincenzo Montefusco, then to Carlo Mazzone and Giovanni Galeone, but still could not avoid relegation.
Almost 30 years later, Allegri returns to Napoli in a completely different role, with the goal of starting a new winning cycle. As a player, he experienced Napoli during one of the club's toughest periods. Now, the Livorno coach will lead the team from the dugout, and he will officially write himself into Napoli's history in a way no one else has.
