Poor Guardiola..If you asked for some advise from Conte before using that formation!!! 3 Center Backs and yet one that being Larpote was helping Sane on the left wing but when it came to defending Larpote defended alone on the Left with Sane high up !! the game needed a natural Left wing back unlike Sane wgo just could Attack but literally defend!! Bad game for Man city!!
I don't overly agree with tactical blames on pep. He's not known to change his ideas for any team. I particularly think that's why he got hammered multiple times by direct teams in successive seasons in the champions league (he was unwilling to adapt to them). He has an amazing formula but the truth is he doesn't overly plan on how to stop the opponent, instead, how to break them down.... Liverpool took the morale out of city, I would think the city players had gotten too confident in recent success. There was nothing different tactically from city than the usual. Same shape same usual winners, just a day when everyone forgot what Liverpool can and have often done to city recently
