Alonso tried various ways to address right-wing issues but acted poorly

The coach has sought a new alternative on that side with Camavinga, but it didn't work this time.

Xabi Alonso continues to rotate players on Real Madrid's right wing. While there is certainty on the left with Carreras, Vinicius, and even Mbappé himself, on the other side there are only doubts. Camavinga had performed well in the Clásico on this flank. During the match, Xabi changed the plan and put the Frenchman on that side to move Bellingham more towards the center, and it worked. So much so that last night at Anfield, he was once again his choice, but the former Rennes player foundered in a general suspense regarding the coach's plan.

Camavinga didn't find his place this time. He was inaccurate and didn't provide depth to the team in attack. Xabi's first substitution was him in the 69th minute. Rodrygo came on in his place, another option for that flank, but it didn't yield results either. The Brazilian was supposed to be a serious replacement for Vinicius, but he has faded and against Liverpool was once again far from his best form.

Injuries have not helped to solidify Xabi's right side either. Trent started in the Club World Cup, but Carvajal overtook him. Then came the injury of the Englishman, and just recently another one for Carvajal for three more months. As things stand, Fede is now the full-back, even though it's not his position, and the former Liverpool player, although he reappeared at Anfield, was seen to still have some way to go to regain his place.
