Questions have surrounded the relationship between Alvaro Arbeloa and the Real Madrid dressing room in recent days, with reports in the Spanish press suggesting tensions between the new coach and some senior players.
Having taken charge only a few weeks ago, Arbeloa has been portrayed as struggling to win unanimous support, a narrative that has quickly gathered pace.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Spanish coach firmly dismissed those claims. Arbeloa stressed the importance he places on dialogue, explaining that he regularly speaks with his players to understand how they feel and to share his own views. He highlighted the positive atmosphere within the squad, praising moments of togetherness off the pitch, shared meals, and a strong training session earlier in the week. According to him, unity and open communication remain central to his approach, far from the picture painted by recent reports.
“I like to talk with them and I take every opportunity to speak to everyone […] I like to maintain good relationships with my players, contrary to what is said in the press. I like to see them together. It’s one of the points I’ve emphasized the most. I’m very happy that they have time to relax. We had an excellent training session on Tuesday. After that, I’m delighted that they have dinner together. I’ve missed these moments since my playing days. Cristiano often came to these meals, for example,” Alvaro Arbeola said.
