Amad Diallo Traore: Happy to find my form again, I'll give my best next season

Amad Diallo Traore was interviewed by SportyTV after Côte d'Ivoire was eliminated by Norway in the FIFA World Cup round of 16.

We spoke once after your narrow loss to Germany, and you said then that you would definitely beat Curaçao and reach the knockout stage. So when you scored the equalizer in this match, did you still have the confidence that the team could win?

Of course. I think everyone was very confident we could win this game. In my opinion, conceding their second goal was too easy for us. But scoring a goal like that in the final stages and equalizing at 2-2 was actually very difficult, because they have many strong players who can change the game at any time. So we tried to turn the game around, but we will also learn from this and try to do better next time.

Has the head coach reunited the team and discussed how to move forward after this loss? This Côte d'Ivoire team has shown strong passion, fighting spirit, and desire to win, and their quality is excellent. What's next for such a team?

I think the head coach is proud of us, and we are also proud of our performance in this tournament. We are the youngest team in this tournament, so we are very satisfied with what we have achieved. Our biggest goal next is the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, and we will prepare for that tournament and strive to win the championship.

Finally, from a personal perspective, you also scored in this tournament. How will this help you going into next season?

I am gradually regaining my form. Over the past three months, my performances at Manchester United had declined. But there, both the head coach and my teammates have been supporting me. I am very happy that I can regain my form, and I will give my best next season. Every time I play, I will give everything. So today I am indeed very disappointed, but we will learn from this experience.
