Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has refused to confirm that Matheus Cunha will become his first signing of the summer transfer window.
After a dismal campaign that saw United finish 15th in the Premier League, the Red Devils are looking to move quickly this summer and have set their sights on the Wolves forward.
United have agreed to pay his £62.5m release in three instalments over the next two years, and the 26-year-old is due to undergo his medical in the coming days.
Amorim was quizzed on Cunha's imminent arrival on Wednesday, but remained tight-lipped on the Brazilian as he urged fans to wait for official confirmation of the transfer.
'You have to wait for that (announcement).,' Amorim told reporters. 'I won’t confirm anything. I have no news. We will see. There will be some changes.'
Amorim was speaking after United slumped to a humiliating 1-0 defeat by ASEAN All-Stars in their first post-season friendly in Malaysia.
It was another low point in what has been a disastrous campaign for United, but Amorim has made it clear that he expects things to improve once he rebuilds his squad this summer.
Cunha is expected to occupy one of the No 10 roles in Amorim's favoured 3-4-2-1 formation, and the Portuguese coach is also keen to add further attacking reinforcements in the coming weeks.
United have been linked with moves for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo in recent days after finishing as the fifth-lowest scorers in the Premier League this season.
The Old Trafford club will also need to sell players to fund their spending spree, and Amorim has told Alejandro Garnacho he can find a new team.
Mail Sport exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Amorim addressed Garnacho in front of his team-mates over the weekend and told him: ‘You better pray that you can find a club to sign you,' after the winger hit out at his manager for dropping him for the Europa League final and his agent brother claimed Garnacho had been 'thrown under the bus' by Amorim.
Marcus Rashford and Antony are also facing uncertain futures after being sent out on loan to Aston Villa and Real Betis, respectively, in January.
