Amorim says Man Utd have 'more problems than solutions'

Ruben Amorim sees "more problems than solutions" in Manchester United's recent performances, as the Red Devils prepare to face their former boss David Moyes.

United approach Saturday's trip to Everton one place and one point below the Toffees in the table, sitting 16th after losing three of their last four league games.

Amorim has only taken 14 points from as many Premier League games at the helm (four wins, two draws, eight defeats), and the former Sporting CP boss declared his job is "so hard" after last week's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.

Amorim has repeatedly said he will not change his methods after seeing United struggle in his 3-4-3 system, and he admits signs of progress have been too infrequent.

"What I feel is that sometimes you don't feel improvement in the team, but some games you think we can play and create situations," Amorim told BBC Sport. "That is a good thing.

"In this moment, when you watch the games, you see more problems than solutions.

"That is clear. When we play some games, I see things are there, and we are capable, but we have to be consistent."

Amorim's win percentage of 28.57% is by far the worst of the 11 men to have taken charge of United in the Premier League either on a permanent or interim basis.

The legendary Alex Ferguson is first among that group with a win rate of 65.19%, and Everton boss Moyes is halfway down that list, winning exactly 50% of his 34 games in charge in 2013-14.

Asked about Moyes' ill-fated spell at Old Trafford, which came in the wake of Ferguson's 2013 retirement, Amorim said: "It shows it is a difficult job.

"But we have to try to understand the history.

"This club had a figure that you cannot replace in Sir Alex Ferguson, and then it is a hard job to do it. Everything was connected with one person.

"When that person leaves, it is really hard. He [Moyes] is doing an amazing job and did do an amazing job at West Ham. He is a coach that is hard to win games against."
