RUBEN AMORIM says Marcus Rashford was wrong to tell the world he wants to quit Manchester United.
Striker Rashford stunned the Red Devils by revealing in a bombshell interview he is ready to LEAVE his boyhood club.
Gaffer Amorim wishes the star had come to him first and said: “If this was me, probably I would speak with the manager.”
But he suggested the unsettled England ace, 27, could still get the “new challenge” he wants by staying at Old Trafford.
Rashford made his stunning confession 48 hours after he and Alejandro Garnacho were left out of the squad for Sunday’s 2-1 derby win at City.
Amorim, 39, claimed the pair could return for Thursday night's Carabao Cup quarter-final at Spurs — if they bucked up their ideas.
But while Garnacho, 20, was with the team for the trip to London yesterday, there was no sign of Rashford.
Portuguese boss Amorim is apparently unhappy with how some players behave off the pitch.
Yet he insisted his warning about watching how they ate and dressed was just to highlight his attention to detail on the entire squad.
He added: “I don’t know how they dress, I just see them in the kit.
"And I don’t know how they eat, I’m not looking at their plates, it was just to make a point.
“I don’t control that, what I can control is the way I see things to take into the games and the training.
“For Marcus, all the players, my focus is to set the standards and see if they can do it — and then play the games.”
Rashford stunned the Old Trafford faithful by telling Henry Winter: "I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps. When I leave it's going to be ‘no hard feelings’.
"You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.
"If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse.
"I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person.
"When I leave, I'll make a statement, and it will be from me."
Midfielder Mason Mount, 25, has been ruled out of Thursday evening's clash after picking up another injury at City.

Dropped for the first time after not performing well and decided to leave rather than fighting for his place....well, you're welcome to leave. This is Manchester United, not a babysitter's club. Amorim will surely change the club's fortune.

Rashford is lazy simple as that but if he thinks he’s gonna go elsewhere and be successful with that attitude he better think again. You went on the Overlap and spoke about how you wanted to break Rooney records at the club then perhaps you should take a leaf out of his book. Wazza work rate was second to none

It's easy to say he wants to leave, realistically how many decent clubs will actually willing to pay mediocrity for £300k /week? Barcelona certainly won't buy to that, Real do not need him, Bayern never known to pay silly wages, PSG have since washed their hands with him, Saudi League is the only possibility but at the expense of not playing for England again. Rashford is clearly a confused talented player by mixing with the wrong company and listened to wrong advices. Take a leaf from Maguire 's book, buckle up and fight for your place. The swaggy big-shot dressings image is fine as long as he has the top football performance to go with it. As it stands, the only way for him to go is DOWN wherever he may be.

If Rashford leaves Manchester United he'll end up like Lingard

Players at United feel too big because they're over-paid and pampered like babies. It's good that Amorim is setting standards at the club and any who can't meet up should find another club. There are better players waiting to grab that position.
