Ruben Amorim has been out of work since leaving Manchester United in January.
Ruben Amorim has no plans to return to management despite being linked with both Benfica and Juventus, according to reports. The ex-Manchester United manager has been without a club since departing Old Trafford in January.
Amorim was in charge of the club for just over 12 months, securing 25 victories, 15 draws and suffering 23 defeats across his 63 matches. He departed following a 1-1 stalemate with Leeds United, pocketing a £12 million settlement owing to his contract running until 2027.
United appointed Michael Carrick as his replacement on a caretaker basis for the remainder of the campaign, with the club recording seven wins and two draws from his 10 fixtures at the helm.
Speculation has now emerged regarding Amorim's next destination. The Sun reports that Amorim is being considered as a potential successor to Jose Mourinho at Benfica should his compatriot depart the club.
Both are also anticipated to be candidates for the Portugal national team position once Roberto Martinez's deal expires following the World Cup. The report adds that Juventus approached Amorim's representative in January regarding a possible move to the club. Nevertheless, it appears Luciano Spalletti is set to pen a new deal.
Amorim is said to be relishing his break from football, having spent the Easter period in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It's understood that an immediate return to management isn't high on the agenda for the Portuguese boss.
Amorim has lately been spotted playing padel with Man City director of football Hugo Viana. The pair were former teammates at both Braga and Sporting CP, and remain close friends.
United, in the meantime, will be formulating a strategy on who will be leading the club next season. There have been demands for Carrick to secure the role permanently following his influence this season.
His spell at the club has witnessed the team rise to third position in the Premier League table. That places them in pole position to compete in Champions League football next season.
United have also been associated with other candidates, including Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, Gareth Southgate and Robert De Zerbi. The latter has, though, since joined Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis.
Julian Nagelsmann has also been connected with the United position. The German manager will be guiding the German squad in this summer's World Cup.
