Amrabat: I want to help AFC Ajax win the title in my own way

Amrabat stated that he hopes to win the Eredivisie championship with AFC Ajax this season.

Amrabat arrived at the Johan Cruijff ArenA this summer on a free transfer. AFC Ajax's management had been searching for a suitable and attainable defensive midfielder. Amrabat said he would approach the role in his own way.

Amrabat signed a two-year contract with AFC Ajax in August. Since his debut against PSV on September 5, he has featured in all of the team's matches. He has started and played the full 90 minutes in AFC Ajax's last five games.

Amrabat understands the importance of the defensive midfielder position in Dutch football and AFC Ajax's system. Amrabat joked: "I think in the Netherlands, they mostly want the number six to win the ball, dribble forward, beat three players, cross, score himself, and then track back to defend. Is that the ideal number six for AFC Ajax?"

Amrabat stated soberly: "No, but that's not how I play this role—I play it in my own way. I just try to help the team. I want to be a champion, and I try to help my teammates play better too. Sometimes it works better than other times."

Amrabat added: "I consider myself a winner and try to demonstrate that every day. I try to inspire my teammates with this mentality, bring positive impact to the team, and guide the younger players."

Amrabat concluded: "I want to support everyone, but of course the most important thing is our performance on the pitch. We must try to play well. Yes, I will give my all. I hope that at the end of the season, we can lift the championship trophy."
