Ancelotti 'is asked by UEFA to sit a COACHING EXAM after his badges expired'

Given everything he has done in football during his 30-year managerial career, you would think Carlo Ancelotti knows a thing or two about coaching.

But despite his decades of experience and trophy-laden CV, the veteran Italian will have to roll back the years and sit another coaching exam, according to reports from Italy, because his UEFA badges have now expired.

The 62-year-old Real Madrid boss has won a stunning total of 21 trophies throughout his career - including three Champions League titles and he has won silverware in all five major leagues - The Premier League, Ligue 1, the Bundesliga, Serie A and LaLiga.

But his accomplishments now count for nothing, in the eyes of UEFA, as reported by Corriere Dello Sport, who say Europe's governing body have written a letter to Ancelotti warning he must sit an exam in order to have his certification renewed.

The Spanish Football Federation are believed to have contacted UEFA asking them to put Ancelotti through his paces again despite racking up 1,200 matches and a reputation as one of the most successful coaches in football history, the report says.

Ancelotti rejoined Madrid last summer and has already won his first trophy since returning to the Bernabeu - winning the Spanish Super Cup against rivals Atletico Madrid last month.

His side are four points clear at the top of LaLiga and are favourites to win the title, which would mean Ancelotti has won the top division of all five major leagues.

He made the shock move to join Madrid again having left Everton after only a year and a half in charge, but the switch looks to be paying off so far.

He failed to make a significant impact at Goodison Park - with his side finishing 10th in his first full season.
