After the Brazil national team lost 1-2 to Norway in the World Cup round of 16 and exited the tournament, head coach Ancelotti stated that although the loss was painful, the team must look towards a new World Cup cycle and restart for the 2030 World Cup.
In this match, Norway, thanks to Haaland's brace, advanced to the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time in history, while Brazil exited in the round of 16 for the first time since 1990. Despite the disappointing result, Ancelotti still believed after the match that Brazil had a chance to win.
"I think we deserved to win this match. We knew Norway would play this way, they wanted to control the pace of the game through possession. The first 70 minutes were under our control, but in the end, Haaland decided the match."
Ancelotti's contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation extends until the 2030 World Cup. He admitted that this elimination was very upsetting for everyone, but he preferred to view this loss as a new beginning rather than an end.
"Failure means the start of a new journey. We must continue to improve and find new ideas. This is not the end, but the beginning of a new cycle."
This was Ancelotti's first time leading a team in the World Cup. The renowned coach, who has managed Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Bayern Munich, took over the Brazilian national team in May 2025, having been in charge for just over a year. In this year, he has been working to establish a new tactical system, evaluate young players, and help the team overcome the shadows of a slump in the South American qualifiers, regaining confidence.
However, this journey was not easy. Before the World Cup, players such as Estêvão, Rodrygo, and Militão were successively sidelined due to injuries. After entering the World Cup, two core attacking midfielders, Raphinha and Lucas Paquetá, were also injured. Therefore, for Ancelotti, this World Cup was more like an early test rather than the culmination of the entire plan.
Speaking about the future, he said: "We will turn this defeat into motivation to continue working, while reassessing player performance. Our plan will not be interrupted by one failure; we will continue to improve and find new ideas, just as we have been doing this past year."
As Haaland leads Norway in their continued pursuit of the World Cup title, Brazil must begin to ponder a new future: How will the team complete its regeneration? Who will be the next generation of leaders? What new changes will Ancelotti bring to this five-time World Cup winning Brazilian team?
Facing these questions, Ancelotti maintained his usual composure. "I think the work we've done this year has been positive. That's football; sometimes you have to accept the pain of defeat, and I'm used to all of this."

How could you denied a man who willing to play thru injury for his own Country??? That man respect his country and willing to die trying for his country. I see thru Neymar, once Neymar put on that Brazilian jersey he will give everything for that Country,, he will play his heart out for Brazil, he doesn't like to lose when he puts on that jersey. That's the warrior he his.

Japan game was supposed to be an eye opener for Norway game. But that fucking old man didn't see it. It's a knock out stage, win or go home, yet still he gamble with his own foolish ideas. Neymar should have started with Endrick. I know for sure, that game would have played different, in favor of Brazil. Big old fuckkkkkkk
