Ancelotti gives curt response to Mbappé question

After the 2-0 win over Man Utd, the Real Madrid coach highlighted Bellingham’s performance and fended off any talk of Kylian Mbappé.

Carlo Ancelotti appeared in the mixed zone after his Real Madrid team continued preseason fine tuning with a 2-0 victory over Premier League outfit Manchester United. A very nice early goal from Man of the Match Jude Bellingham was added to with a stunning strike in the closing minutes from new striker Joselu, and the manager was pleased with what he saw. Numerous questions were thrown the Italian’s way, and the chance to ask about a certain Kylian Mbappé was clearly not going to be missed.

When asked about the analysis of the match, Ancelotti described it as a very decent game with some intense moments in the first half, an improved defense compared to previous matches, and a more controlled second half, leaving him overall satisfied.

Regarding the goals Ancelotti was quick to praise his new Englishman, also crediting Rüdiger’s fantastic pass, and highlighted the specialness of Joselu’s overhead kick.

On the topic of the team’s high level, the manager attributed it to their quality, physicality, technical skills, and commitment. He explained that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ absence was due to a minor discomfort, and that they didn’t want to risk him but did expect him to return soon, along with Güler.

When asked about the satisfaction with the new system, Ancelotti acknowledged its success and spoke about Vinicius’ adaptability and attacking strengths along with those of his compatriot Rodrygo. He also pointed to the qualities that Bellingham brought to make their gameplay smoother, especially in a 4-4-2 defensive formation, and how Joselu’s performances are justifying their trust in him. He was able to send some affection in the direction of his former player Casemiro, now with the Red Devils.

When asked about the current squad and staff, Ancelotti seemed more than satisfied and that the importance of managing a harmonious dressing room was important. Asked about the team’s current state compared to last year, Ancelotti reaffirmed that the team was motivated and focused on performing well. Then came the question about PSG’s want-away star Mbappé, but he was having none of it.
