Ange Postecoglou has vowed to fight on after being booed by Tottenham fans during his side's 1-0 defeat at Chelsea on Thursday night.
Postecoglou's decision to take off Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert for Pape Matar Sarr and Brennan Johnson just after the hour mark was met with the chant of 'you don't know what you're doing' by the travelling supporters.
Five minutes later, Sarr found the net from long range, leading to Postecoglou cupping his ear and waving towards the away end in an apparent attempt to fire back at his critics.
Sarr's goal was subsequently chalked off for a foul in the build-up, and Postecoglou insisted after the match that he had not been goading the fans and just wanted them to cheer louder.
Reflecting on his current relationship with the fanbase, Postecoglou claimed on Friday that he remains unaffected by the abuse that has been sent his way.
'No, I am fine,' he insisted. 'I don’t get affected by that. I will continue fighting my whole career.
'People want me to say something that will change the mood of the fans but I have never done that. My job is the performance of the team. I get that they are frustrated and angry.'
Tottenham were outplayed for long periods at Stamford Bridge as they slipped to their 16th league defeat of the season to stay 14th in the Premier League table.
Spurs still have a chance of winning silverware this season after reaching the Europa League quarter-finals, but they have been unable to build any momentum in the league.
Fans have made their thoughts clear on performances in recent weeks, often reacting angrily when players have headed over to acknowledge them after the final whistle.
Postecoglou is adamant he has no issue with fans aiming their frustration at him, but has denied that his team's struggles are down to a lack of effort from his players.
'I understand the criticism towards me, but if anyone looked at the players and said they aren’t trying - then I am sorry they are not watching the right game,' Postecoglou said.
Spurs will look to bounce back against bottom club Southampton on Sunday, before facing Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final next Thursday.

I was the first one of these 1st cup game to say get rid of this coach. He has out of his depth. He has no idea. He has no Plan B. He is so arrogant so dismissive so rude he needs to get out of this club or we’re going to start getting out of this club. I think that’s true. I think he hasn’t been affected by the fence because he’s so arrogant he thinks he’s above the fence.
