Ange Postecoglou said his transformation of Nottingham Forest has yet to begin because of how disruptive circumstances have been in his first week at the club.
The Australian was appointed as Nottingham Forest boss on Tuesday after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked following a breakdown in relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis.
As well as that saga, his players who were away on international duty had returned to a totally new set-up.
After his team’s 3-0 loss to Arsenal, he said: ‘The players only got back on Tuesday (from international break). So you know, what they left to when they returned, what they inherited was totally different. New face, new voices, new coaching and new training.
‘And I just thought, today I didn't want to make too many changes to the line-up, because I think it would have been unfair both on the existing players but on the new players to be thrown into such a difficult game. But I think we can put a line through that now.
‘I think whatever's happened this week, and you know, sort of how disruptive it's been, we can start looking ahead.’
Ange’s Forest play Swansea in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday and he sees that as the starting point.
When asked how long it will take him to transform Forest, Ange said: ‘it won’t be months, it won't be weeks. It will be Wednesday. I cannot afford to waste time. This is not a project.
‘This football club had a strong season last year, they need to be stronger this year, and my job is to get us to where I want us as quickly as possible.
‘On Wednesday night, we will start seeing principles being embedded. It won't take long and I will not let it take long.
‘I will make sure we turn it around because we have an unbelievable opportunity to make an impact this season, and I am not going to let that slip.’
