Angry Maradona 'sends seven players to the reserves' after shocking start

A furious Diego Maradona has sent seven of his senior players to the reserves after a disastrous start to life as the manager of Gimnasia.

What began with a joyous celebration when he was unveiled last month has quickly turned sour, with the team failing to pick up a single point in his first three matches.

Gimnasia's losing run now stands at seven matches, and Maradona has decided to take action after being unable to arrest his team's slump.

After deciding to move the team's training sessions an hour away to Argentina's national team facilities, he has now shunned some of his senior stars.

The Sun report that Jonathan Chacon, Guillermo Enrique, Lucas Miguez, Juan Cataldi, Khalil Caraballo, Eric Ramirez and Lucas Calderon have all been ousted, ahead of a huge game at the weekend.

Under Maradona, Gimnasia have lost to Racing Club, Talleres de Cordoba and River Plate - and they face second-bottom Godoy Cruz at the weekend.

Maradona's side have a chance to leapfrog their rivals and record their first win of the season at the ninth time of asking.
