Another huge financial boost coming to Chelsea after Club World Cup triumph

After a difficult spell over winter, Chelsea have emerged as one of the great winners of the 2024/25 season. They lifted the Europa Conference League, qualified for the Champions League and became the inaugural winners of the new-look Club World Cup.

The CWC triumph earlier this month is thought to have bagged the Blues $114 million in prize money and there could be more to come. The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are on course to agree a huge new front-of-shirt sponsorship deal that could be one of the biggest in the world.

The report claims that Chelsea now have multiple offers worth up to $80 million per year, a huge upgrade on the $50 million deals that they could have signed last year. It’s not yet clear who the new name on the front of the jersey will be but it will represent a massive cash injection for the club.

Chelsea went through the majority of the 2024/25 season without a shirt sponsor after they were unable to find an acceptable offer. The big sponsorship deals in soccer are usually done over a period of 5-10 years and Chelsea were reluctant to be tied in to a lower price.

Chelsea have continued their ambitious transfer market activity this summer, already bringing in Jamie Gittens ($74m), Joao Pedro ($73m) and Liam Delap ($41m) amongst others.

Aside from the financial bonuses, the CWC win has also given Chelsea an air of confidence that had been missing since former owner Roman Abramovich was forced to sell the club in 2022. Now that they have had the Club World Cup success they are in a stronger-than-ever negotiating position and they look well-placed for a serious tilt at the Premier League title next year.

“I said at the start of this tournament that our plan is to win it and people looked at me as if I was crazy,” Chelsea defender Levi Colwill said in the aftermath of Sunday’s final. “So I’m going to say the exact same thing now going into the Premier League and Champions League.”
